Happy New Fishing Year!
2007 was for many Norwegian salmon fishermen a disappointing year.
We waited for the huge schools of salmon to come up river, but again, we were let down by another bad salmon year.
My 15 year old son Marius Furuly (picture) had a great day in June in Finnmark when he hooked this beatiful sea trout at 2,5 kilo’s (on a big salmon fly). Photo: Jan Gunnar Furuly.
Only 25 mins later he hooked a nice salmon at 4,1 kilo.
That day he knew ALL that is needed to know about salmon fishing with a fly.
Had he also beached the giant 10-12 kilo salmon that took his fly the next day, he would have been in the salmon fisherman’s heaven for the rest of the summer.
But the big one’s, always escape. We know that for a fact.
I am sure that we will have good and friendly fishing fights among us in 2008 – and I really hope all readers of this blog will experience tight lines and a fascinating new fishing year!
